Samsung has demonstrated their new, improved versions of the S-SIM cards for mobile devices here at 3GSM. Samsung's S-SIM cards incorporate user memory up to 1 GB on the SIM card itself, removing the need for a separate memory card such as microSD. The new S-SIM cards have been improved to support the MultiMediaCard (MMC) standard, the USB 2.0 host interface standard, the InterChip-USB standard as well as the original SIM standard, so the cards are compatible with existing devices, while providing full functionality to new devices that will take advantage of the additional on-board storage. These new S-SIM cards are going to be available to card manufacturers by Q2 2007. |
