4 Phones Added to Motomobile Portfolio

29 Mar, 2007, 11:00 am IST | by Shayne Rana | Mobile phones

Motorola announced four new additions to its mass market portfolio — W218, W360, W380 and W395. Building on the Motomobile portfolio additions announced at 3GSM, Motorola's main aim is to continue meeting the diversified needs of consumers and not compromising on factors like style and multimedia at reasonable prices.

These mobiles would be equipped with features like a camera with video capability, Bluetooth technology, color displays, integrated FM radio and would also have longer battery lives. And in many cases the devices would use Motorola's new AJAR applications framework.

"Motorola's mass market handsets give first-time technology users a chance to connect with those in their life, while enjoying the entertainment features a mobile device can provide," said Steve Lalla, Corporate Vice President, Mass Market Products, Motorola Mobile Devices. “We’re delivering on our 'no compromises' approach to leading this industry by uniting cool design and cool experiences, at price points for every market."

Some of the Handsets in Motorola's Motomobile portfolio include:

W218

The W218 GSM candy bar phone features FM radio, VGA camera and is designed for user comfort. Being an entry-level phone, the company claims it will still deliver the basics, which include a longer battery life, increased storage capacity and a speakerphone.

W360

The W360 is designed to be a multimedia device for the masses. Like the W218 it too is a GSM candy bar shaped phone. It is equipped with a range of multimedia features like MP3 ring tones, a 4x zoom VGA camera, FM radio, office-quality speakerphone and 5 MB of integrated user space.

W380

The W380 is a GSM flip-phone designed for people on the go to be connected via either Instant Messaging, SMS or MMS. The device is also equipped with media extras like a 4x zoom VGA camera and an FM radio. The W380 can also act as a storage device and the USB connectivity provides easy transfer of data between the phone and PC.

W395

The Motorola W395 aims to deliver a large variety of multimedia tools, including a 1.3 megapixel camera, video capture and playback, messaging capabilities, Bluetooth and good battery life. The W395 can act as a storage device with support of up to 2 GB of removable memory.

The Motorola W360, W380 and the W395 are equipped with Motorola's AJAR software framework. This application framework is designed to add flexibility, an enriched application development environment and provide support for operator branded services.

All handsets are expected to be available in the second half of 2007. Prices have not yet been disclosed.
