CDMA Mobile Service from HFCL Infotel

Mobile service provider HFCL Infotel has announced the launch of its 'Ping' CDMA mobile service for Punjab and Chandigarh, with a unique charge package of one paisa per second.

The service claims that mobile users will be charged only for exact usage in seconds and not for the entire minute. Ping promises low tariffs, cost-effective handsets, and a host of value-added services that provide true value-for-money to customers.

"It is the first time in the country that any mobile operator is offering a unique consumer-friendly pulse rate of one paise per second and a SIM-based feature-rich colour mobile handset for as low as Rs. 999,” said Surendra Lunia, CEO, HFCL Infotel.

The new CDMA mobile service will be available in 150 towns and 5,000 villages across Punjab and Chandigarh. The service will be available through 8,000 retail outlets across the state. The company has invested Rs. 1 billion in the technology.

HFCL's Connect brand, which entered the Punjab market in 2000, has over 250,000 landline, 70,000 mobile and 40,000 broadband users. The company is targeting 300,000 new subscribers by March next year. It hopes to cover another 5,000 Punjab villages within a year.
