Nokia has unveiled the Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition calling it the company's most affordable GPS-enabled phone. Nokia is expecting the new phone to be popular all over world - in developed and developing countries alike - since the phone has been developed with urban environments, small towns and rural areas in mind. The phone incorporates straight line navigation with the assistance of an integrated digital compass and also includes turn-by-turn driving navigation with full voice guidance. Keeping in mind that the cost and availability of data connections is sometimes limited, relevant maps are included on the device to ensure that even if there is no access to an internet connection, the device can still be used. The handset features a 2.2-inch screen, 2-megapixel camera and storage for 1,000 phonebook entries. Other features include Ovi Mail, Instant Messaging, an MP3 player, FM radio and 3.5mm AV connector. The estimated retail price of the Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition will be EUR 110 and it should start sales in the second quarter of 2010. With Nokia Maps pre-loaded, along with local maps for the region it's on sale in, the phone will also come with a car charger and a car cradle along with a lifetime navigation license. In select countries, the Nokia 2710 will ship with local maps, stored on a a 2GB memory card. |
