G’Five mobile launches G99 and G66i feature phones in India

| by Roydon Cerejo | Mobile phones

While the big wigs in the mobile space are busy trying to outdo each other with dual-cores and 3D technology, the low-end budget segment is left out in the cold. Thankfully, we have companies like G’Five to fill the void. They've just launched two feature phones in the sub-5K price bracket, the G99 and G66i targeting those on a strict budget. The G99 is priced at Rs. 2,789 while the G66i is priced at Rs. 4,089.

The G99 is a touch and type phone with a unique ability to detach the keypad when not needed. The phone comes bundled with a flip cover that houses the detachable keypad, as well as the spare battery. Being a Java-based phone, one can install apps like Opera Mini, Nimbuzz, etc. from the Internet. The 800mAh battery doesn’t seem too powerful, but I guess that’s why they give you a spare. Some of the highlights include:

  • 2.6-inch touchscreen
  • GPRS, WAP
  • Bluetooth with A2DP
  • Memory expandable up to 4GB via microSD card

The G66i sports a larger display along with dual-cameras (2MP in the rear, VGA on the front). It also has Wi-Fi, Analog TV, FM radio and comes bundled with a 2GB memory card. Some of the highlights include:

  • 2.8-inch touchscreen
  • EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 2 megapixel camera
  • Memory expandable up to 16GB via microSD card
  • 3.5 mm handsfree socket

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
