Cashing in on whatever World Cup fever is left in the country, Gillette (yes... the razor blade company), is announcing a Mobile Cricket Championship that will allow mobile phones users to play against any nation of their choice from a list of top cricketing nations in the world. Users have to dial 5056789 on their mobile phone and say "Cricket", and then choose which nation they wish to play against. Once an opponent is chosen users are transported to a stadium where they face their rival. The concept is created and produced by Mainduck and can be played by anybody, anywhere with a mobile connection of Airtel, Hutch, Idea, BSNL/MTNL landlines. The caller will be charged an expensive Rs. 6 per minute. The mobile cricket matches won countrywide will be awarded with a Grand cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh along with over 300 other prizes. Sumeet Narang, marketing manager—Gillette, "We understand the strong emotions that are associated with cricket, especially this season, and we want to connect Indian men to one of their biggest passions in life. Whether it is the launch of the Vector Plus special edition cricket razor—the Winner Razor or the hugely successful 6 city Gully Cricket competition in which over 2000 teams across India participated, Vector Plus has always taken the energy and enthusiasm of cricket to the nook and corners of India. Launching the Gillette Vector Plus Mobile Cricket Championship is in sync with the cricket ka Jashn spirit that defines Vector Plus." |
