Google’s grand plans to launch a mobile phone handset has proved a fertile ground for rumors galore in the mobile industry for a while now. Despite all the hype, nothing conclusive so far about the design, UI or anything else has been disclosed. The project has been under wraps for so long, it’s driving people into a speculative frenzy. However, sources say the Google mobile OS would be based on open-source Linux code, which will support applications from different software developers, in addition to Google's own services such as email and mapping.
The fog should lift today, and we should finally be able to get a clearer picture regarding what the actual deal is. For instance, will the Indian cellular operator who's likely to be part of the big announcement be Bharti Airtel, as the grapevine claims? Stay tuned for developments! |
