"Nano" dual-SIM phone spotted for Rs.1,200

| by Karan Shah | Mobile phones

In a world where specs mean everything, we came across a mobile phone from a Chinese handset manufacturer going by the name Ken Xin Da and the phone is among the tiniest you can find in the market today. The M2, as it's called, may not be super slim, but is tinier than the palm of your hand, tinier than your wallet and in all certainty, tinier than your current phone. Surprisingly, despite such a small footprint, it boasts of some good features. The phone comes with a company rated talktime of 240 minutes. It supports WAP 2.0 and a couple of audio and video formats, including MP3, MP4, AVI, 3GP. The M2 comes with a dual-SIM dual standby option, which in that small form factor is a pretty impressive feat on its own. There’s a directional keypad along with a numpad and two call buttons.

Honey, I shrunk the phone!

From the brief hands-on we did have with the phone, it looks like an extremely usable handset, apart from being obviously super portable, close to the invisibility factor. It’s a tad bigger than your average cigarette lighter or AA battery, but still has a pretty usable keypad. There’s also a camera, which we believe is of the VGA resolution. That’s not it. Along with all this, the connectivity options on this phone, include a 2.5mm headphone jack, a microUSB charger and a microSD card reader. Like any other Chinese phone, it’s got a super loud speaker as well.

Tiny!

The phone is available in a handful of local mobile phone shops and is currently selling at a price tag of Rs.1,200 (comes with a charger, 2GB memory card, microUSB cord and headphones) with a warranty period of three months. With this price tag and these looks, it’s one crazy looking, cute feature phone that we wouldn’t mind using. In a market flooded with a large number of dual-SIM handsets, does this one make for a good phone, for its ultra portability feature?
