Nokia has announced the launch of its first Touch and Type QWERTY device with Nokia Music Unlimited on the Series 40 platform, the Nokia Asha 303. The device runs on a powerful 1GHz processor and has 3G capabilities to deliver faster Internet and social networking experience. The phone also comes pre-installed with their Nokia browser that allows for quick and localized Internet access by compressing web pages by upto 90 percent. Along with an extension of its other 3G HSPA phones, the Nokia 303 also provides ‘live updates’ on the homescreen for all social networking addicts.

Here’s what the spec sheet for this phone looks like:

  • a 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP + EDR, USB-on-the-go
  • 3.2MP fixed focus camera
  • Stereo FM radio
  • MicroSD card support for up to 32GB

The Asha 303 comes pre-loaded with Angry Birds and Whatsapp. One can watch Live TV on the pre-installed Zenga TV app. The DRM-free Nokia Music Unlimited service allows consumers to share their favourite music without any restrictions with their friends and family. The availability of Nokia Music Store on Series 40 platform widens the average playlist and offers the choice of downloading from a large collection of over four million songs. It comes with an enhanced music player, built-in FM radio and up to 47 hours of music playback time, according to the company. The Nokia Asha 303 also comes with support for the addition of a 32GB memory card.

The new Nokia 303 tries to combine the best of both worlds, i.e. easy touch and texting options with the convenience of a QWERTY keypad. Users can have fast and easy access to messaging, e-mail and instant messaging from the homescreen and can swipe to access apps, music or games from the Nokia Store. Nokia 303 comes packed with 64 MB Internal memory and has Bluetooth connectivity. The phone comes with a 1300 mAh battery and has a 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen. We’ve not got the exact pricing, but it’s coming soon to a store near you.
