Reliance Communication Launches 3G

On Monday, Indian Telecom giants Reliance Communications at long last rolled out their 3G services. While 3G became a rage way back in 2001, it only reached Indian shores through BSNL in 2008. The more the merrier though, of course, so it's good to see other players launching their 3G services - especially private ones. The service has been launched in four cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh – for now and should expand to over 13 telecom zones by March next year. If you are wondering what the big fuss about 3G is, it is the third generation of standards for mobile phone communication services. In simple words, you have faster access to the internet from your mobile phones. Services for your 3G-enabled handset by Reliance The company will be offering 3G plans ranging from Rs. 199 to Rs. 2499 a month. They somehow don’t really expect a price-war, but feel that there might be one in terms of content and innovation in services. If you are using an Airtel number, you might be able to avail of 3G services on your handset by the end of this month, as per Reuters. Vodafone users will have to wait for a while longer, as they might their launch services in the first quarter of next year. |
