Samsung Develops Brighter Phone Display

29 Oct, 2006, 4:00 pm IST | Aalaap Ghag | Mobile phones

Samsung has always had some of the best displays in cellphones, with their own UFB (Ultra Fine and Bright) technology LCD screens as opposed to STN and TFTs, and they've gone ahead and made yet another kind of an LED-based display that claims to be brighter than standard displays, without consuming any additional power.

The new Super Bright phone display boasts of 360 nits brightness, which is 33% higher than the conventional blue LED-based displays' 270 nits.

The low power consumption of the Super Bright phone display makes it ideal for multimedia phones and PMPs where the display brightness is as important as battery life. This new display is expected to be incorporated in phones around next year.
