Samsung Launches CDMA Corby, Speed

Samsung's announced the launch of Corby Speed, its first touch screen mobile handset on the CDMA platform

The new Samsung Corby Speed complements the company’s existing touch strategy of “a mobile for every lifestyle” and gives data speed up to 2.4Mbps for Hi Speed Internet surfing and downloads on the phone. The company has launched this phone in the open market and it supports full Service (Voice + Data) across all CDMA operators OMH SIM Cards like Tata Indicom , Reliance Mobile, MTS and Virgin Mobile, with the latter set to launch their OMH cards in January ’10.


Announcing the launch of Samsung Corby Speed, Hendrick Lee , Vice-President, Mobile Division, Samsung India Electronics Ltd., said, “ With the launch of the Corby Speed model, we are targeting the youth and young professionals who are looking for hi speed internet surfing , faster downloads , quick access to SNS and Instant messaging on their phone. The launch of this phone with OMH technology gives consumers the flexibility of choosing/changing an operator at his/ her will at any point in time.“

The Corby Speed, available on the CDMA platform, has the original Corby’s trademarks of bold colours, pop-style contours and stand-out curved body design. Users can update current status and access friends’ updates, live feeds on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. The handset also supports various social networking community sites by integrating leading User Generated Content sites such as Flickr, Picasa and Photobucket and other popular SNS sites including Facebook, MySpace and Friendster directly into the handset's user interface. Users can upload photos and videos to these SNS and User Generated Content sites.

“Corby Speed also boasts of a trendy and a terrific touch screen experience with twenty nine pre-installed widgets for smooth usability,” said Lee. The phone brings alive a complete multimedia experience for users with its 2MP camera, 2.8” (7.1cm) large screen display, music player, FM with recording and comes with 80 MB internal memory expandable upto 8GB with a MicroSD.

The Corby Speed package includes 3 vibrant color fashion jackets – Yellow , White and Black and is priced at Rs. 10,400.

Samsung today further strengthened its CDMA portfolio by announcing the planned introduction of Mpower Muzik 219 and Duos 259. The Mpower Muzik 219 comes with dual speakers , music player, Bluetooth, menu options in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telegu and Bengali languages , FM recording to SD card memory, 1000mAh battery, VGA Camera with video recording and expandable memory up to 2 GB. The MPower Muzik 219 is priced at Rs. 3599.

The Duos 259 is a GSM cum CDMA - dual standby phone. It comes with a 1.3 MP camera and video recording , Stereo FM and FM recording, MP3 Player, up to 8GB expandable memory, a 1140mAh battery, GPRS and Bluetooth. The Duos 259 is priced at Rs. 8350.
