Vertu Announces New Handset - Ascent Ti Damascus Steel

08 Jun, 2009, 1:49 pm IST | Shayne Rana | Mobile phones

Vertu has just recently launched a new luxury handset called the Ascent Ti Damascus Steel. Looking as sexy and flamboyant as any of the other handsets Vertu has launched in the past the could the Damascus Steel be a sign saying – the recession is over?

According to some reports, the handset, like all the others has a very unique way of being produced. Damascus sword blades made of steel underwent a forging method for production and the handset has been created the same way. The method involves a continuous folding and hammer/forging of the metal to improve its strength and hardness. Of course I can’t really picture it being hammered on an anvil but the kind of craftsmanship the handset is etched with (a swirl) looks stunning.

There’s no more information on the kind of features this handset would employ, though I’m sure connoisseurs of the company wouldn’t really care. What they probably would care about is the pricing, which is also a mystery as of now.
