Videocon Nets Mumbai Indians

Videocon mobile is all set to adorn the vests of Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya and the rest of the Mumbai Indian team when they battle for IPL Ver III. MI's earlier sponsor Idea has cancelled its three year contract with the team. By choosing to sponsor the Mumbai Indians, Videocon joins the bandwagon of other telecom handset manufacutrers like Karbonn and Lava recently sponsoring the Indian team's matches against Sri Lanka and Bangaldesh. Apart from their preference for cricket these three mobile makers are also fighting to make a mark in the ultra-budget mobile market. All three of them have launched feature-rich phones under Rs 5,000. These phones come on the back of the no-name Chinese mobiles, which were all the rage till recently. However, that market now seems to be giving way to the new generation of branded phones from a slew of companies and brands. Most of these phones share similar genes - manufactured in China, Java-based UI, great features and an even greater price. What probably sets them apart from the Chinese no name phones, would be the assurance of a brand and servicing in case of breakdown. We have reviewed a number of these handsets, including Videocon, and have generally been surprised about the overall performance and feature set for the price. With the big consumer durable brands like Videocon and Onida also joining the bandwagon, we expect more launches and some exciting products that should challenge the top brands like Nokia, Samsung, LG and HTC to revisit their product offerings for the Indian market. Check out out reviews of some of these phones here. Movil MA1 Olive VG8000 Videocon V1302 Videocon V1306 Intex IIN4495 |
