We Have The iPhone!

We waited for the "unlocked" piece that would hit the market a few days after the iPhone launch. It never came! All that chest thumping in the newspapers from the Paalika bazaar and Nehru Place wheeler dealers proved to be an empty boast. This baby was secure and unbreakable. There was only one way to do it. We called up TV18's New York bureau chief, Indira Kannan and asked her if she would buy one, activate it and send it across to us. Luckily, Indira's existing plan was just coming to an end and she wanted to switch operators anyway. In the US they have number portability which means she could retain her number even if she changed to AT&T. So she bought it, got it up and running, routed her calls to voicemail and set up a cheap international roaming and dialing plan on it. She packed it, shipped it and sent it. Today, we got it... yeah... we got it! Don't believe us? Check out the pics! No photoshopping, we swear! For weeks we've had our faces pressed against the proverbial window scratching at the pane struggling in the hope that we might just be able to get a little taste of the iPhone. Then we saw it. Like a streak of sunshine in our cloudy (literally) sky, like a drop of water in the dessert, like the last piece of meat in den of animals we pretty much did what any normal, sensible, well mannered person would do...... WE DIVED AND FOUGHT AND STRUCK BLOWS AND SCRATCHED AND PRIED OUT EYEBALLS, to get at it! In the end, after a bloody and brutal too gory to mention, R rated, for adults eyes only brawl, we just got tired and left it on its perch in our labs. But scared as we may be, we will persevere and get you in on this as soon as possible. It's iPhone week here at Tech2, so get ready to have all your queries answered as we bring you all sorts of tidbits on this here techno marvel. |
