Cellphones have always been a means for people to be in ‘touch’. But the new tech shown at a TEDx event in Berlin takes this idea to a whole new level. Speaking at the event, design researcher Fabian Hemmert said that he wanted bring back some sort of tactile feedback into modern cellphones. I just called to say "I Love You" The idea is to use small motors attached to a cord, which applies pressure on the back of the users hands by pulling on said cord, while another device will use wet sponges to replicate a human kiss. It does this by gently pushing the wet sponge on the cheek of the said person. The last phone demonstrated uses compressed air to blow a puff of air at the neck or ear. To see how the entire thing works, take a look at the video below.Hemmert says that ‘physical’ aspect of telecommunications will be an important aspect in the future, and imagines a future where users will send kisses over cellphones rather than text messages. |
