XAGE launches new 4.0-inch handset, the M486 Giant

XAGE Communication India Pvt. Ltd. has announced the launch of a full touchscreen mobile phone, the M486 Giant, which comes with dual SIM and a dual standby mode. The phone is sleek and compact enough to fit comfortably into most hands. The front panel of the M486 Giant has a 4.0-inch wide screen with a 1.3 mega pixel front camera and a 3.2 mega pixel back camera with an LED flash. The M486 Giant comes with a high definition MP4 player and a 3GP video player for watching movies, videos and listening to your collection of songs. In terms of connectivity, it also has Bluetooth and comes with pre-loaded applications, such as Facebook and Twitter. The M486 Giant is packed with 1350mAh battery, which does seem sufficient for a Java handset.

The XAGE M486 Giant comes with an 8GB microSD card that comes pre-loaded with 40 movies (All time favourite English and Hindi), 25 video songs (the most popular specially selected songs from the latest movies and albums), 25 audio songs (ever green romantic songs as well as party theme songs), 20 ringtones and 10 wallpapers.

Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the handset:

  • 4-inch Full Touch Screen
  • 3.2 mega pixel rear camera with flash
  • 1.3 mega pixel front camera
  • 1350 mAh Battery
  • MP3/MP4 Player
  • Audio/Video Recording
  • FM Radio, Big Speaker

The XAGE M486 Giant is priced at Rs.7,999 and is available ex-stock in stores across India. A 4-inch display does give you extra space to play around with. Also, a 1350 mAh battery might just be able to provide you with ample juice. What's quite sad though, is that this phone is a JAVA handset and doesn't run on one of the more popular operating systems. We'd have loved this phone, at this price, if it were running Android. The rest of the specs seem pretty much okay, except the operating system. What do you guys think? A 'Giant' JAVA handset at this price - would you buy it?
