Yet Another Gaming Phone Announced, This Time It's G’FIVE Mobiles

| by Roydon Cerejo | Mobile phones

What happens when an unknown mobile brand pairs up with some OEM from China? We end up with yet another cloned mobile phone with a different badge. This time it's G’FIVE mobiles who’ve just launched two new series of handsets targeted at gamers and movie buffs. The E-series that consist of the E680, E650 and E620 comes bundled with twenty movies, ringtones and five FTV videos, all on a 4GB memory card. The G series will launch with just one model, the G20 which is bundled with a thousand 16-bit video games like Mario, Contra, Tetris, etc. There's no official word on the pricing yet but it’s supposed to be ‘competitive’.

In the press release we received, G’FIVE seems to have used the word innovative pretty loosely. If my memory serves me right, Spice had the very same gaming phone three years back called the X1 and just a couple of day’s back Airfone launched a very similar phone with the same functionalities. Moving on, the E680 has the following features :

  • 2.2-inch QVGA display
  • Dual SIM capabilities (GSM + GSM)
  • GPRS/WAP
  • Bluetooth
  • FM radio and MP3 player
  • MicroSD card support with a 4GB card (with movies, ringtones, etc preinstalled) provided
  • Built-in Yamaha amplifier for surround-sound

The E620 will have all these features plus analog TV support while the E650 is a touchscreen flip phone with a slightly larger 2.4-inch display. The G20 gaming phone packs in all the features above except for games instead of movies on the memory card. It will also come with a game controller attachment which bears a striking resemblance (Surprise!) to the Spice X1. The controller is probably made by the same OEM manufacturer. The phones are available in the market right now should you be interested to know, though G’FIVE hasn't announced any prices yet.

 7.0

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
