Seems like the going is only getting tougher for telcos operating in the country, seeking 3G roaming agreements. A couple of days back, we had reported about the telcos approaching The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), asking it to give their grievances over 3G roaming agreements a patient hear. The TDSAT was scheduled to meet the operators to hear them out on January 3, 2012. Now, Telecom Talk reports that an insistent Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has not only filed an affidavit in this respect, but has also asked TDSAT to reject the petition by the wireless operators in the country, which will mean that operators will lose their Intra-circle 3G roaming agreements. Woes continue
DoT has been quite insistent about not letting the wireless telcos have their way with the Intra-circle 3G roaming agreements, citing reasons like the telcos have “not come with clean hands”, and that they have “suppressed material documents”. Among other things, the report also quoted DoT as saying, "Intra-circle 3G roaming pact by operators is “in violation of various terms and conditions of Cellular Mobile Telecom Service License and various terms and conditions of the Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) dated 25.02.2010 for 3G/BWA Auction”. |
