The technical snag that brought the services of one of the country's most popular mobile service providers, Bharti Airtel to a grinding halt on Tuesday, had been caused by a fire that broke out at one of their buildings, confirmed Airtel in an SMS sent out to its users. The SMS read, "A network outage due to a fire at one of our buildings impacted some of our services today. Voice, SMS and BlackBerry service have been resumed. Work is on to restore 2G and 3G services later tonight. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused." Some services working, 2G and 3G may be still downl
Close to noon yesterday, when reports of a network failure first broke out, it was quite unclear as to which of Airtel's services had been affected, and most importantly what had caused it. As the day progressed, Airtel's tweets confirmed that a technical snag had occurred leading to the unfolding of events. Reportedly, Airtel's prime services like Voice, SMS, 2G, 3G, BlackBerry services, Airtel broadband, among others had been hit. Users across the western region of Maharashtra complained of being unable to access Airtel's services, and expressed their frustration on Airtel's Twitter page, and on Tech2's Facebook page.
While it does seem now that some services have been restored, like the ones mentioned above, services like 2G and 3G still seem to be down. Are you able to access Airtel's services now? Let us know in the comments section below. |
