Reeling under financial pressure, popular mobile service provider in the country, Bharti Airtel have decided to hike their ISD tariffs to a few chosen destinations, for all its users by 10 percent, reports the Times of India. In addition to this, Airtel has also decided to take away certain add-on benefits to schemes which allowed flexibility in billing plans, reduced call rates when on roaming, among others that it had provided to its prepaid subscribers. In a quote carried by the report, it has been confirmed by an Airtel spokesperson that Airtel aims to remain in competition and deliver value service to its customers, hence these changes were necessary. The report further states that Airtel has also cut down on the duration of the validity of its schemes from the initial 1 year to 6 months. Airtel's GPRS services too will come with reduced benefits as it now will offer 1GB of data download limit for Rs. 98. Earlier it offered 2GB data download limit for the same rate.
The good news, however, is that amidst all the hikes, Airtel has reduced the data download price of its 2G and 3G network to 10p/10 KB, instead of the earlier 30p/KB. |
