MTNL today announced the upgradation of its 3G/ UMTS users to 3.5G HSDPA, which provides a download speed of 3.6 Mbps, according to a report by Telecom Talk. These services will allow increased 3G downloading speeds at the same costs as the earlier services in the Mumbai circle. MTNL subscribers to get 3.5G HSDPA access
This indicates that MTNL users within the Mumbai circle can now automatically get a default 3.6 Mbps download speed via 3G. Currently, MTNL tariffs for 3G/HSDPA service are Rs. 449 in the Mumbai circle, wherein users can make complete voice, video and 3G data downloads as part of the pack. Furthermore, a couple of other plans like daily data plan for Rs. 22, 3G prepaid pack for Rs. 25 and live mobile TV at Rs. 99 have also been announced. MTNL has also confirmed that 3.5G access won’t be applicable to GPRS pack subscribers and users can obtain more details by dialling 1503 or 9869012345.
MTNL might have one of the cheaper options as far as 3G services are concerned. But, for 3G to become a hit amongst consumers, it’s definite that the prices need to fall further. Further details can be obtained on the MTNL 3G home page. |
