Text4Baby mobile service offers free tips to expectant mothers

A free mobile service, called Text4Baby may just be the thing for new and expectant mothers, and is perfectly timed, too, since Mother’s Day is just a day away and what better gift for a mother than better care for their newborn with some professional tips. Text4Baby is a free mobile service, which provides its subscribers (new and expectant mothers) with tips for their pregnancy and/or for caring for their baby, which they would find useful, too. To begin with, those interested can either register online on their website or through their cell phone following a straightforward procedure. Those registering via an SMS will have to type - BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) and send the message to 511411. Herein, those registering will be asked to provide the service with details like - when is their baby due or their baby’s birthday and their zip code. Giving in these details will complete the registration process.

The set of messages, mothers can expect to receive once their registration is over includes messages addressing issues like - Prenatal Care, Safe sleep, Immunization, Breastfeeding, Diabetes, Nutrition, Oral Health , Immunization, Family Violence, Physical Activity, Safety, Injury Prevention, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Developmental Milestones, Labor & Delivery, Car Seat Safety, Exercise. A sample message reads like this - "Even if U feel great, a pregnant woman needs checkups with a Dr./midwife. To find care, call your health plan. For help with costs, call 800-311-2229."

The tips and updates that the service provides are timed, keeping in mind the baby’s due date or the baby’s date of birth and if there are any changes that need to made to the due date, once the registration is done with, an SMS reading UPDATE will have to be sent to 511411 to enter the new due date. Mothers would also want to update their baby's birth date once they deliver, so that they continue to receive tips and updates through their baby's first year. Alternatively, if one wants to stop receiving messages from the service, they will have to send an SMS reading STOP to 511411, also if one wants to start receiving the messages again, they will have to register again by SMSing BABY to 511411 (BEBE to 511411 for Spanish messages).
