CES 2012: Gigabyte demos their new 3D Power design and UEFI BIOS

Gigabyte Technology, a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today announced the debut of a number of new motherboard technologies that will be present in their 2012 line-up. The first one is their all new digital power management system called, 3D Power. All forthcoming 7 series motherboards will feature this, which gives users digital control over all the main onboard power zones as well as manipulate and monitor the power provided to 2nd Gen Intel Core processors for the LGA 1155 socket.

One of the motherboards previewed was the GA-Z77X-UD5H, which is based on the new Z77 chipset for Intel’s Ivy Bridge CPUs. Another new feature is Gigabyte’s 3D BIOS, which is UEFI-based allowing you to use a mouse as well. Gigabyte will also showcase the G1. Sniper 3, which features Dual LAN and onboard Creative gaming audio together with Intel Gigabit and Killer Game Networking controllers. Some models will also feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. All these new features will first start showing up on the Intel Z77-based motherboards, but some of the existing high-end boards based on Z68 or the 990FX chipset should also be updated with these new features.
