Following Intel’s announcement towards the end of last month about the flaw in their Cougar Point chipsets for the Sandy Bridge processors, motherboard manufacturers have been hard at work working out replacements and trying to find a way to get the updated B3-Stepping motherboards, which fix the SATA issue, out. MSI and ASUS started shipping their B3 motherboards out recently and now Gigabyte has joined in on the act.
New and Improved
While MSI and ASUS went the low-profile way with just including the B3 logo on the packaging, Gigabyte have gone the whole hog by renaming their motherboards, including the term B3 in their UEFI/BIOS, displaying it during start up and also showing it off gaudily in the packaging and PCB of the motherboards.
All over the place
