Creative has introduced the Creative Zen Stone, a 1 GB MP3 player that will be available by May 14 for a price of US$39.99.

The Creative Zen Stone features a smooth contoured design and will be available in six colors—black, white, red, blue, pink and green.

The MP3 player features "drag and drop" transfer of music and 10 hours of usage from a single charge of the built-in battery. The player doesn't have a screen though and the company maintains that "the Zen Stone is so simple to use that it does not even need a screen".

"The Creative Zen Stone, at just $39.99, opens up a huge new market for MP3 players," said Sim Wong Hoo, chairman and CEO of Creative. "This is an incredible price for everyone to get a superior quality MP3 player capable of holding up to 250 songs. Whether it's your only player or a second player to take with you anywhere, the low price lets you think of MP3 players in a whole new way. You can loan it to a friend just like you would a CD or a mix tape and not have to worry about it, but you'll like it so much that you'll want another, so you always have one with you."

The Creative Zen Stone will also have its own docking speaker system, the Creative TravelSound Zen Stone, which will be available in black or white in July. Using micro drivers, the portable speaker system will provides about 20 hours of usage powered by two AAA alkaline batteries. The TravelSound Zen STone will also be available for US$39.99.
