Nokia N97 Rumored with 20 GB HDD

20 Nov, 2006, 6:00 pm IST | by Aalaap Ghag | Mobile phones

We delete at least 50 repeated comments about the price and availablity from the Nokia N95 page every day—that's how popular that thing has gotten. But I think this piece is going to change things quite a bit. Ladies and gentlemen, the latest product of the internet rumor mill: The Nokia N97 Multimedia Computer!

The Nokia N97 clearly seems to be a slider, but one that drops the dual-sided concept that the N95 introduced. The multimedia play/pause buttons are now on the front of the phone, not hidden away on the top. This gives it a more PDA or Pocket PC-like look, but the media keys prove this is still an Nseries phone, not a business series phone.

The feature list is quite impressive. The first is a 3-inch, arguably QVGA (240x320) display (0.4 inches more than the N95), a whopping 20 GB hard drive for pure multimedia pwnage, a 5 megapixel digital camera with flash, 2.4x optical zoom (Carl-Zeiss, no doubt) and 20x digital zoom, video recording at 15 fps, an FM radio tuner and–not that you’d need it, but–a miniSD memory card slot.

All this technology will sure need a whole lot of power, so the upgraded battery is capable of more than 4 hours of talk time, more than 400 hours of stand by and supposedly also more than 24 hours of music playback.

The last time we put up a supposed rumor about the Nokia N95, it actually got officially announced by Nokia the next day, so...

Update 21/11/2006: Of course we all knew this wasn't for real, but it was good to be hopeful, even if it was for just one day! :)
