Nokia to Launch New N-Gage in September?

06 Feb, 2007, 5:00 pm IST | Aalaap Ghag | Mobile phones

Nokia’s ill-fated N-Gage is all set to make a comeback in a new avatar — a platform this time, instead of a bunch of hardware products. And if a recent leak from an official N-Gage blog are to be believed, we might see some activity happening around September this year.

If it takes off, different manufacturers will make N-Gage ready phones that can run games designed to be played on those. This can be compared to the recent Games for Windows initiative by Microsoft, although it's more than just a shade different. The supporting phones are more likely to be Series 60-based than anything else, obviously. Combined with the online-abilities of the mobile phone and recent multimedia features like TV output, the possibilities of such a concept are huge.

Let's see what Nokia comes up with.
