QNAP expands their Turbo NAS lineup with 8 and 10 drive NAS boxes

QNAP Systems Inc. have expanded their business series desktop Turbo NAS servers with larger capacities that can now hold up to 8 and 10 drives. The new models include the TS-879 Pro (8 drive) and TS-1079 Pro (10 Drive) and support up to 30TB of online storage. The NAS boxes, claims QNAP have full support for Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix operating environments and are powered by Intel’s Core i3-2120 and 2GB of DDR3 RAM. They also feature a Gigabit Ethernet jack for seamlessly carrying large amounts of data and maximum bandwidth, adds QNAP. The 8-drive NAS box is for Rs.1,22,500 and the 10-drive box goes for Rs.1,39,500.

According to the company, the new models include SATA 6Gb/s, USN 3.0 and an optional 10GB/s network card. Other features include, hot-swappable drive carriages with support for 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives, dual Gigabit LAN ports with failover, load balancing, USB 3.0 and 2.0 and eSATA ports. The new NAS boxes also feature RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 6, 5+ hot spare, 6+ hot spare, 10+ hot spare, single disk, JBOD and the new Global hot spare feature. They are also believed to be ideal for network shared storage and virtual server environments thanks to them being VMware and Citrix XenServer ready. The NAS boxes are perfect for an expanding business or big corporations, states QNAP.
