Chandrasekhar Panda and Saswat Swain, two young students have now brought the idea of owning a laptop for most, closer to reality. The laptop in question is named iWebleaf. Its features include:
...and, all this for a mere 5000 rupees. According to a report in Orissadiary.com , that spoke to the innovators, even the processors used in the laptop (named DXA 16), which is of the caliber of an Intel Atom N450, are made by them in their college lab! All this in a bid to control the price range of the laptop. Considering safety to be an issue that should be tackled, the boys are working on an anti-theft module on the laptop. This move, however, has been facing competition from the HRD ministry. The ministry is in the process of launching its own venture, 'Sakshat', which promises a laptop, very much like the iPad for $35. |
