Apple's New 13.3" Intel MacBook Arrives

Apple has just launched its new Intel-based MacBook as a successor to their iBook and the PowerBook line of laptops. Although the new laptop is a little more expensive, it does pack a powerful punch. At US$1099 for the lower end variant, the new 13.3” widescreen MacBook can give you a better powered, compact machine with features that command attention. Like the glossy, bright display, a 1.8 GHz Intel Core Duo CPU (2.0 GHz processor with the higher end model), 512MB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive with shock protection, a single-layer DVD burner, AirportExtreme Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FireWire, a built-in iSight webcam and an Apple remote for Front Row media software. What it lacks however, is keyboard backlighting and the ExpressCard slot, which the MacBook Pro offers. Also, the new MacBook comes with an external USB modem for an extra $49. Also, while the MacBook supports external displays upto 1920x1200 (like the Apple 23-inch studio display), it doesn't come with a DVI or VGA adapter, so you'll have to purchase those separately for $19 each. So the MacBook is really a mixed bag, with a lot packed in but a few important elements left out. Do check out Apple's spec sheet before buying it! macbook_black_ichat_t.jpg Related Posts: Apple Launches 17-Inch Macbook Pro MacBook Pros Have Underclocked Radeon X1600 Apple Unveils New iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook
