It's been exactly a year, since Microsoft launched its UMPC platform. Since then, very few products based on this platform have surfaced, with only a few major manufacturers showing any kind of interest in the platform. ASUS which was one of the few manufacturers, who had shown interest and released their version of the UMPC called the R2H. The R2H had featured a 900MHz Celeron M ULV processor, 768MB of DDR2 memory, a 7inch LCD with a native resolution of 800x480,60GB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi and GPS capabilities.
Now Engadget has reported that Asus has upgraded the R2H and is demonstrating the product at CeBIT 2007. The new name for the R2H is T83. Asus has changed quite a few things in the product specification lineup. For starters, the amount of HDD space and system memory have been halved from 60 GB to 30 GB and 512 to 256 MB of RAM. The decently powerful Celeron M ULV processor replaced by a weak 1 GHz VIA C7-M processor. |
