Dell Inspiron PCs Get Sandy Bridge Treatment

Dell is getting ready to launch upgraded Inspiron desktops and a laptop powered by the new Intel Sandy Bridge processors on the Cougar Point platform. After upgrading the Alienware M17x laptop and the Aurora and XPS 8300 XPS, it’s time for the mainstream products.  Sandy Bridge on updated Dell products soon
Other than the Inspiron desktop lineup, Dell also plans to launch Sandy Bridge upgrades to Latitude laptops, OptiPlex desktops as well as the Precision range of laptops and workstations. The updated products should be available in stores such as Croma, e-Zone, Staples and other Dell retailers across India.
The launch of many products using the Cougar Point chipset was delayed after Intel discovered an issue with a few SATA ports. Sam Burg, VP of Dell’s Consumer and Small/Medium Business group mentioned that Dell put a hold on affected Sandy Bridge powered products the when Intel announced the flaw. He also mentioned that other than the incorporating of the new platforms on upcoming products, there would also be a new form factor which Dell would display in June. |
