In a move that is sure to embarrass them, Dell has been sued again for an old problem. The new case claims that Dell laptops suffer premature failure of the motherboard due to overheating shortly after the warranty period has ended. The model numbers that suffer from this malady, are the Inspiron series which include model numbers 1100, 1150, 5100, 5150 and 5160. The suit, which seeks class-action status, has been filed in Ontario Canada. Under the main topic that has come up in this suit, is the allegation that Dell knew about these issues but sold the laptops anyway. This case is bound to attract a lot of attention as Dell has settled a similar US lawsuit over one of the models and is defending itself against lawsuits over the other four models. |
