HP To Unveil Laptops With Back-Lit LCDs

21 May, 2007, 6:00 pm IST | by Jayesh Mansukhani | Notebooks

Hewlett–Packard will release 2 new laptops, later this year that will have Back-Lit LED LCD panels. The models that will be announced will be the ultra-light HP Compaq 2510p, and the HP Compaq 2710 tablet. The 2510p laptop will have a 12.1-inch screen, and will be available with either Windows Vista or Windows XP. The machine will weigh in at 2.9 pounds, and will be built on the newly launched Santa Rosa platform. The specifications of the tablet remain unknown as of now.

With this move, HP will become the latest manufacturer to jump onto the Back-lit LED bandwagon. These panels are all set to become popular in the near future, as they are more durable and lighter than LCDs and offer better contrast/color ratios.
