We had earlier reported the leaking of the new T61 and R61 models. Lenovo has now officially announced them along with an additional model, the 3000 N200. The ThinkPad T61 and ThinkPad R61 are 14.1-inch widescreen laptops engineered using Lenovo's latest innovations that include a new Top Cover Roll Cage for improved durability, a better cooling system, enhanced wireless connectivity with Ultra Connect II and longer battery life through its Battery Stretch control option. T61 The new laptops feature Intel's Centrino Pro (ThinkPad T61) and Intel Centrino Duo (ThinkPad R61) mobile technology based on the recently launched Santa Rosa platform from Intel. The laptops feature a Top Cover Roll Cage in addition to the original hard drive magnesium roll cage. The new honeycomb-designed roll cage cushions the laptop's LCD, reinforcing the screen and helping reduce stress on the display structure and antenna. These laptops also feature Lenovo's Active Protection System and a shock-mounted hard drive. R61 Lenovo offers better wireless performance with Ultra Connect II. This connectivity design helps reduce the effect of conductive material and LCD noise, boosting WWAN and WLAN performance and eliminating the need for external antennas. The laptops offer several different connectivity options such as WWAN (on select ThinkPad T61 models) and WLAN GB Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth and modem. Lenovo said owls are known for their silence during flight, and the unique shape of an owl's wing inspired the design behind the company's improved cooling system design. The system reduces surface temperature by up to 10% and lowers the noise level by three decibels over previous ThinkPad laptops. The new laptops offer enhanced security with select models offering full disk encryption hard drives, an integrated biometric fingerprint reader and a smart card reader. Users can also opt for Intel Turbo Memory with both laptops and new IT management capabilities with Intel Active Management Technology in the ThinkPad T61. To enhance the multimedia experience, the laptops offer choices of Intel integrated or NVIDIA discrete graphics and a four-in-one media card reader. Users can also opt for an integrated camera with the ThinkPad. The Lenovo 3000 N200 15.4-inch widescreen laptop features WLAN, 10/100 Ethernet, Bluetooth connectivity options and an integrated fingerprint reader. To help lower the total cost of PC ownership, Lenovo Care Tools help manage IT tasks with automatic updates, one-button system recovery and simple network connectivity. Users can further customize the 3000 N200 by choosing Intel integrated graphics or Nvidia discrete graphics combined with options like an integrated camera and microphone, a 5-in-1 multicard reader and Vibrant View display The ThinkPad T61 and R61 14.1-inch laptops start at approximately Rs. 85,000 and Rs. 60,000, respectively, while the 3000 N200 starts at approximately Rs. 53,500. All three laptops are available through Lenovo Business Partners and online at www.lenovo.com. |
