13 Jun, 2006, 3:15 pm IST | by Jayesh Mansukhani | Optical drives

In the merry go round that has become product releases now days Sony and Pioneer have pushed back the release dates of their much-anticipated Blu-Ray players.Sony's BDP-S1 has an estimated ship date of 15 August, with an expected price tag of $1,000.This means that it is scheduled to launch almost four months later than expected. Pioneer's player will emerge after Sony's, in September, and now has an estimated price of $1,500, which is $300 less than originally announced. At the moment, Sony is promoting the BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc Player by bundling it with copy of "The Fifth Element." Wonder what kind of fortune do Sony and Pioneer spend on their PR agencies? The spiel that seems to spew forth now days in PR releases stating in bold “THE FUTURE IS HERE” Right all of us see where the future is headed with these kind of delays!??!
