In an official statement, Transcend Information Inc has introduced its 8X slim portable CD/ DVD writer today. Transcend shares that the 8X slim portable CD/DVD writer is its thinnest ever with a thickness of 13.9mm. ![]() It's the thinnest thus far
Transcend shares that the portable CD/DVD writer is meant for use with Ultrabooks and cutting edge notebooks that come sans a built-in disc drive. Transcend claims that its design fits comfortably into the sleeve of any laptop bag or backpack, and offers around 44 percent weight savings over standard external optical drives. Moreover, because the CD/DVD writer draws its electric power directly from the computer's USB ports, users are offered more diverse entertainment and enhanced productivity wherever they are.
The CD/ DVD writer comes bundled with a full-featured copy of the powerful media writing software CyberLink Power2Go, and also includes a bonus 30-day trial version of CyberLink's MediaShow. Using these software tools, users can not only burn music, data, video and even bootable discs in a variety of CD and DVD formats, including CD-R/RW, DVD±R, DVD±RW, DVD±R DL, and DVD-RAM, but also compile, arrange, and produce media files with a simple and straightforward software interface.
Transcend's adds further that its Slim CD/DVD writer is fully compatible with Windows 7 and also supports Windows Vista/XP and Mac OS, which it claims offers seamless operation to users, across all major operating systems. Offering up to 8X DVD and 24X CD write speeds, plus support for the dual layer recordable DVD media formats, the CD/DVD writer is currently available for a suggested price of US$59 and is backed by a two-year limited warranty.
Recently, flash-based storage and memory manufacturer Transcend added two new RAM modules to its aXeRam Overclocking Memory Module range. According to the RAM maker, the new 8GB aXeRam DDR3-2400 and DDR3-2133 memory kits combine high capacity, clock speeds and low voltage, which sounds great for overclockers. The modules are expected to hit the street in a month; however, pricing details haven't been revealed at the moment.
The modules support the latest Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) version 1.3, which is an easy and hassle-free means to get guaranteed certified overclock values from supported memory modules. This feature allows both novice and advanced users to overclock their aXeRam DDR3 modules on Intel Core processors.
With 8GB of total capacity (2 x 4GB), a clock frequency of 2400MHz (PC3-19200) and timings of 11-12-11-29, the DDR3-2400 kit is touted to provide stability at high clock speeds and voltage of just 1.65V. Lower voltages are desirable because that translates into a dual benefit of reduced heat dissipation as well as minimised power consumption. The 8GB DDR3-2133 kit similarly contains two identically matched DDR3-2133 modules. The RAM sticks are rated at a clock frequency of 2133MHz (PC3-17000), with timings of 10-11-10-27. Unlike the 2400MHz version, these modules have a lower operating voltage of 1.6V. |
