The PC sound card market which has been dominated by Creative for over a decade now, has seen the entrant of a new player. The new company is none other than Asus, who unveiled its very first sound product, the Xonar D2 that is based on AV200 audio chip and is a 7.1 channel soundcard. The AV200 chipset packs in built-in sound-enhancing technologies from Dolby and DTS and features a SNR ratio of 118db for both audio in/out and across all 7 channels.

The card also comes with a special application called “Portable Media Processor" that works with the onboard ALT (Analog Loopback Transformation) circuit to provide almost lossless analog recording audio quality from digital music files. Prices and availability of this product is unknown at this moment.
