Verbatim has announced the world’s first LightScribe 8X DVD+R Double Layer (DL) disc. At 8X speed, it is the industry’s fastest DVD DL burning speed and an entire 8.5GB single-sided disc can be filled to capacity in 15 minutes or less. The new double layer media is fully compatible with LightScribe-enabled drives, duplicators and can be burnt using the latest software which has licensed by HP. When combined with a Lightscribe drive it becomes possible to produce silkscreen-quality monochrome labels directly on the label side of the discs. This is possible because the new discs are produced with LightScribe Media Version 1.2 coating technology on the label side to provide enhanced contrast for photos, graphics, images and text. It delivers LightScribe direct-to-disc labeling quality and convenience without requiring any software or firmware upgrades. "With our new Lightscribe media users can store up to 3.5 hours of DVD-quality videos, about one hour of HD video or 8.5GB of data that too in minutes. It addresses the growing market need to store an ever-increasing amount of data, while offering built-in protection to keep valuable data, and other important files intact”, says Ramesh Tuli, Country Manager, Verbatim India. "The complete product line up is designed to cater to the rapidly growing storage market in India", he added. The product will be available for sale by the end of Nov '08 and the retail price will be in the range of Rs. 100 per disc. |
