Deus Ex 3 Will Feature a Cover System

The community manager at Eidos Montréal made some interesting revelations about one of the most eagerly awaited Action/RPG – Deus Ex 3. The stealth system - which was a major part of the first Deus Ex – will be more cover based rather the shadow/light way we’re accustomed to. Here’s what he had to say:

For stealth, that is another major pillar of gameplay and we do have it. The difference is that it's now cover-based rather than "shadow/light-based" as in the past games.

So it’ll basically have a cover system, and as previously revealed, the game will also allow the player to regenerate health gradually. The first game had the traditional “heal a part of the body with a health kit” system and I prefer that to the action oriented gradual healing system. Deus Ex 3 seems like it's tipping towards the action genre more than we’d like it to; but Eidos Montréal's community manager was quick to refute such thoughts:

Deus Ex 3 is indeed an RPG. It's a hybrid action/RPG just like the first game. There is a skill system where you upgrade your character (Adam) based off experience points you earn and you can do the same thing with weapons. It's a game with a very detailed plot with numerous characters you interact with. The gameplay takes the form of a consequence-driven multi-path, multi-solution approach in a non-linear space.

Let’s hope they don’t muck up the franchise the way Eidos did with Deus Ex 2.
