EA Working on FREE Battlefield Game

Electronic Arts are a strange bunch indeed. On the one hand they seem to take perverse pleasure in churning out hundreds of mediocre sequels, while on the other hand they’re offering you a band new Battlefield game absolutely free of cost! Apparently this is all part of the new business strategy formulated by EA’s new CEO John Riccitiello, which if implemented will generate revenue for EA not through retail sales of Battlefield Heroes but through in-game advertising and various upgrades like weapons and outfits that can be purchased by players. The only problem I see with this is that players who can afford to buy all the goodies may have a significant advantage on the Battlefield. As of now we know nothing else about the game except that it’ll be a PC exclusive and it may end up looking a bit like Team Fortress 2. Either way, expect some sort of a formal announcement soon.
