Crytek reveals PC hardware requirements for Crysis 3

Crytek is gearing up to release its next flagship title, Crysis 3. The company has announced the PC hardware requirements for the upcoming first person shooter. Looking at the requirements, it's clear that the new game engine, dubbed CryENGINE 3, is looking to push the boundaries of visual fidelity. Running the game on the highest settings will need a very beefy computer.

Here are the minimum requirements to get the game running on a PC:

• Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
• DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM
• Dual core CPU
• 2GB Memory (3GB on Vista)
• Nvidia GTS 450 with an Intel Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz (E6600)

OR

• AMD Radeon HD5770 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.7Ghz (5200+)

All that prettiness is gonna need a hefty rig

A quick glance at the minimum requirements shows that the computer will need to have DirectX 11 to run the game.

Here are the recommended requirements for running the game on higher settings:

• Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
• DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM
• Quad core GPU
• 4GB Memory
• Nvidia GTS 560 with an Intel i3-530

OR

• AMD Radeon HD5870 with AMD Phenom II X2 565

The minimum hardware configuration required to run the game with all the settings cranked up to the highest is given below:

• 8GB Memory
• Nvidia GTX 680 with an Intel Core i7-2600k

OR

• AMD Radeon HD7970 with AMD Bulldozer FX4150

Back in November, Crytek had released a trailer with new screenshots that showed some of the gameplay of Crysis 3. The trailer shows some action with the new bow weapon along with some new changes to the gameplay from the previous games. The biggest change is that sprinting no longer eats up the nanosuit's energy, and has its own cooldown timer to prevent you from running for an infinite amount of time. Sprinting while cloaked still eats up the suit's energy fast though. CryTek has also pointed out that the video is still alpha gameplay footage, but judging by the video, the game doesn't seem very far from a full release.

It was revealed in early November that pre-ordering Crysis 3 on EA's Origin service will get you a free copy of the original Crysis. Crysis 3 will be available in February 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
