| Google reportedly plans to set up its own server farm in Andhra Pradesh, India, to operate as its second facility in Asia. This is the second attempt by Google to set up a back office in India, after it had to cancel plans earlier in March instead went on to set it up in Taiwan instead. The project will reportedly cost $1-billion but Google is keen on setting up in India, thanks to the number of Iinternet companies mushrooming here. This domestic server will store e-mails, blogs, photos, documents and chat records, and make it available to online users when they ask for it. It will also permit users to access the internet faster and save on accesses costs from international locations. Experts are of the opinion that Microsoft, Yahoo! and other IT giants may follow Google in choosing India as the preferred destination for setting up their own server farms. |
