If you thought a 72-inch TV was monstrous, you just have to see what Panasonic put up at CES 2011. Yes, you read the headline correct; Panasonic has indeed displayed a 12.6-ft (152-inch) wide TV at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. One might think that it’s just a dummy model, but this TV supposedly has quite a lot of features including 3D plasma technology. That’s right; Panasonic says that they’ve developed "ultra high-speed 3D drive technology," new chips necessary to enable high-quality Full HD 3D display on this gargantuan 4,096 x 2,160 pixels panel. Panasonic's massive TV - scaring all the small timers away These guys have really pushed the envelope this time and hopefully this will serve as a benchmark for electronics manufacturers all over the world. Although Panasonic hasn’t disclosed even an approximate price, sources say that this TV could cost close to half a million USD or even more! I really wonder who’s going to spend that kind of money on a television set. But then again, this world is full of people willing to spend money on luxuries like these. |
