After the massive outage that struck Sony’s PlayStation Network, back in April, the company has faced a sort of hiccup again this month to their online gaming service. According to a report by the Washington Post, Sony, on Wednesday said that a third party tried to access active accounts of 93,000 users on their PlayStation and other networks between the 7th and 10th, of this month.

The company temporarily froze and locked the accounts of user’s IDs and passwords that were successfully breached by the intruders. Sony said that they have sent emails notifying the users affected with password reset information. The Japanese company said that credit card information of those affected was not at risk and they have taken steps to mitigate the activity. The Sony security systems had apparently detected an unusually high amount of failed login attempts. Sony’s spokesman, Sean Yoneda said, “What happened in April was a breach on our servers as we said in our announcements. But this time around, there was no intrusion on our servers. This was ... taking someone else’s identity and trying to use that to access our services.”

This breach has occurred for users across the world. However, Sony says that there is no increase in the number of phone calls received from users related to this incident.
