Sony Offers In-Game Bonuses and Other Goodies

Sony has offered more details regarding compensation for users who have been affected by the PlayStation Network outage that lasted for nearly a month. They also mentioned that the services would be resumed in a few more days.

And now it is Sony Online Entertainment that has been attacked

Sony gave a statement through their site soe.com stating that US customers would get a free identity theft protection from security firm, Debix and that users of the online service would get similar offers soon. In addition to the identity protection, Sony said that users would get one month of free service as compensation plus another free day for each day that passes and the outage continues. Further to this Sony is offering players of the multiplayer gaming service in-game bonuses for several of its games, both for their PC as well as PlayStation 3 games. They went on to say that those who have subscribed for a lifetime membership will get free in-game currency.

Sony also started a 'Welcome Back' program to encourage its users to come back to using the PlayStation and Qriocity services when the network comes back online. This program will enable users to enroll in the services for free, offer free downloads as well as one month of PlayStation Plus services for free. Those who are using Music Unlimited on the Qriocity network would get free services for a period of 30 days.

Third party services that offer PSN content are also offering discounts to those users affected by the outage with Hulu Plus offering one week of credit to those customers affected by the outage.
