Looks like Android’s latest NDK that allowed native multimedia output has struck a chord with PMP manufacturers. The switch from Java-based to native output has seen a deluge of Android PMPs get announced – namely the Cowon D3 Plenue and Samsung’s Galaxy Player. Creative is now getting in on the fun by releasing their successor to the Zen Touch. Why hello there The Zen Touch 2 will run on Android 2.1 Eclair and will feature a 3.2-inch screen at a resolution of 480x320, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-fi, a 2MP rear camera, an accelerometer and a microSD card slot that’ll let you expand your memory to 32GB. The Zen Touch 2 is available in Europe now in 8GB and 16GB variants and are priced at Rs. 11,300 (€189.99) and Rs. 12,500 (€209.99) respectively. It has apparently passed through the hands of the FCC in the US, so Creative’s probably priming itself for a worldwide release. Hopefully it’ll hit India too, because even though it doesn’t have as impressive a specsheet as the Cowon or the Galaxy Player, we’re sure this will have its own market. You can check out the device on Creative’s European website here. |
