Sony has launched the E Series of their Walkman portable media player. The E Series comes in three colours; red, gold and black. This Walkman offers up to 50 hours of audio playback and up to 10 hours of video playback on a single charge. Looks like the old iPod nano with two extra buttons methinks Integrated into the E Series is Sony's Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE). Sony also claims that they've improved the user interface on this device, making scrolling for songs and videos a lot easier. The device also comes with a Bookmark feature which allows users to create, add and edit up to five playlists on the Walkman. Getting music to and from the Walkman is done with a Drag and Drop transfer syste It seems the device's raison d'etre is the Karaoke Mode feature which automatically reduces the volume of the original performer’s vocals allowing users to sing along as if the song is their own (timepass basically). The key of the song can also be adjusted to match their natural pitch without affecting the playback speed. New SensMe channels automatically analyze and categorize the music library with Sony’s 12 Tone Analysis technologies, creating a series of themed playlists. With this feature, users can pick a music channel to suit their current mood, be it upbeat or mellow. The device has a 2 inch QVGA LCD screen. It comes with a built-in FM radio. The black device comes in two versions, a 4GB and an 8GB version. The red only comes in 4GB and the gold in 8GB. The 4GB devices cost Rs. 4,990 and the 8GB devices cost Rs. 6,990. The devices are now available at electronic stores nationwide. |
