Canon Launches 2 Powershot Digicams

22 Feb, 2007, 6:00 pm IST | by Shayne Rana | Point and Shoot

Canon has announced two Powershot digital cameras — A570 IS and A560.

The 7.1 megapixel A570 IS digital camera comes with a 4x (35mm-140mm equivalent) zoom lens and Canon's Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) that reduces the effects of camera shake. Canon's "lens shift" optical system allows the lens to physically compensate for camera movement, even when that movement is caused by extended telephoto or low-light shooting conditions.

Adding to the camera's new features is its fast lens (opening up to f/2.6 at wide-angle settings and f/5.5 at telephoto settings). The PowerShot A570 IS digital camera's range of functions can be expanded with any one of three optional converter lenses — a tele-converter, a wide converter or a close-up lens for macro photography — that attach to the camera's zoom with the addition of an optional conversion lens adapter.

The PowerShot A560 is also a 7.1 megapixel digital camera. Like it's image stabilized A-series teammate, the PowerShot A560 digital camera features a 4x (35mm-140mm equivalent) zoom lens and a bright 2.5-inch LCD screen. It can be used even while shooting in low-light conditions.

"As Canon leads the way in digital camera design, innovation and image excellence, we are also seeking ways to put the power of those imaging advances into the hands of digital camera users everywhere," states Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc. "We are very proud that our new PowerShot A570 IS and PowerShot A560 digital cameras continue to fulfill that commitment and deliver on the promise of high quality and affordability."

Both, The PowerShot A560 digital and the A570 cameras accommodate MultiMedia MMC memory cards as well as standard SD memory cards and the new, high capacity SDHC memory cards.

In stores beginning in March 2007, both the cameras include a set of two standard AA alkaline batteries, a 16MB MMC memory card, a USB interface cable, an AV cable, a wrist strap, and Canon's software suite each.

The PowerShot A570 IS digital camera kit carries an estimated selling price of Rs. 12319.56 ($279.99) and the A570 is estimated at Rs. 10119.56 ($229.99).
